Sing & Learn!_¡Aprender Cantando!

One of the best ways to practice the English Phonetics is by singing. I started to do this when I was around 7 years old. I used to write the songs I liked the most exact way I possibly could when I would listen to them and then I would sing along, it was fun!
I found a Web Site with videos where songs are already subtitled, and some translated.

False Cognates or False Friends
Terms used for words that are written similarly in two different languages, which meaning is not equivalent and in some cases it's the opposite.

Cognados Falsos ó Amigos Falsos

Términos usado para aquellas palabras que se escriben en forma similar en dos lenguajes distintos, cuyo significado no es equivalente y en algunos casos es opuesto.

Example:

English: attend = Spanish: asistir  

It is not possible for me to attend the Conference

No me es posible asistir a la Conferencia

English: assist  = Spanish: ayudar

TO BE or not TO BE... SER o no SER...

To Be Verb TO BE is probably one of the greatest conflicts for bilingual students because of the great difference of use in both languages, beginning with the fact that only one verb in English has an equivalence of two different verbs in Spanish.

Ser - Estar Los verbos SER y ESTAR representan uno de los mayores conflictos para los estudiantes bilingües por la gran diferencia en el uso que se les da en ambos lenguajes, partiendo por el hecho que solo un verbo en inglés tenga una equivalencia de dos verbos distintos en español.

Professional History_Historia Profesional

Claudia Abatte graduated from American School for Translators & Interpreters -EATRI- Santiago, Chile in 1987.
From 1993 through 1997 she lived in Virginia, Washington DC.USA, where, besides working as a Translator & Interpreter she tutored Spanish and volunteered for Organizations and Groups focused on helping the Hispanic Community.
Back in Chile, she has worked as Bilingual Advisor for the International Commercial Relationships within several companies, where her knowledge of both cultures -Hispanic and Anglo- has been an asset.
She also resumed her teaching vocation as English Instructor and Spanish Tutor to foreigners in Chile.
She has some knowledge of German, French, Portuguese, and other languages for linguistic research purposes. Currently she is studying Chinese Mandarin

También se reencontró con su vocación de enseñar, como Instructora de Inglés y de Español a extranjeros en Chile.
Como apoyo lingüístico cuenta con conocimientos básicos de Alemán, Francés y Portugués y actualmente estudia el lenguaje Chino Mandarín.
